In anticipation of its re-opening with an appointment-only service on August 24, the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) in Belfast has produced a short video for its YouTube channel to show researchers what to expect when they enter.
Many Canadians will immediately notice a difference. There is no large container of hand sanitizer immediately inside the front door and visitors don’t need to wear a mask, something that has become commonplace in public indoor spaces across much of Canada.
As libraries and archival centres are doing on this side of the pond, PRONI will quarantine documents after they have been handled by staff and visitors.
