Seavers in the News — Roy A. Seaver Dies in 1952 in Oakland, California

It’s time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" – a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week’s entry is from the Oakland [Calif.] Tribune newspaper dated 12 October 1952:

The transcription of the article is:

"Roy A. Seaver

This obituary provides a name, an age, a death date and place, the names of his wife, sons, sisters and granddaughter, plus a short description of his work history and associations.

Roy Arthur Seaver was born 21 August 1901 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Charles Seward and Minnie E. (Campbell) Seaver.  He died 10 October 1952 in Mount Eden, California.  He married Alice Catherine Gading (1902-1979) on 14 October 1928 in Hayward, California.  They had two children:

*  William Roy Seaver (1930-2014), married 1952 Shirley Ann Lumbard (1913-2016).
*  Robert Arthur Seaver (1931-2007), married 1951 Doris Jean Trantham (1933-2008).

I am not related to Roy Arthur Seaver to my knowledge.  He is descended from Henry and Elizabeth (–?–) Seaver who married before 1770 in Virginia.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree – and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person dies at a relatively young age while serving his community. I am glad that I can honor Roy Arthur Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
